| 8:00 am - 9:00 am | Empowering Consumers to Achieve Greater Independence and Vocational Outcomes Through the Utilization of a Holistic Approach: Implications for Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals Traditionally, individuals with multiple handicaps, including a visual handicap, have received special visual training in isolated contexts (Downing & Bailey, 1989). A holistic approach to service delivery will empower consumers to achieve greater independence, increase vocational outcomes and enhance consumers' quality of life.
