Professional Preparation/Certification
PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION
There are many colleges and universities in the United States, Canada and other countries that offer courses to prepare individuals for a career in the education and rehabilitation of people who are visually impaired, deafblind, or have multiple disabilities. AER-approved colleges and universities have submitted their programs to AER’s University Review Committee for review in order to assure adequate administration, faculty, facilities, and curricula to adequately prepare the new professionals entering the field. These approved universities are required to resubmit to periodic review of their programs in order to confirm ongoing compliance with the association’s standards.
