The Music Teacher will plan and implement musical instruction for students who are visually impaired, including those with multiple impairments. Goals include helping a  diverse population of students to learn music appreciation, vocal performance and/or learning to play musical instruments. Teacher is responsible for providing musical experiences that enhance academic learning, coordinating performances and maintaining classroom instruments. The Music Therapist will be responsible for implementing therapeutic music interventions to address physical, psychological, cognitive, behavior and/or social functioning needs to students.

Full-time, 9-month certified position for the 2026-2027 school year.  Applications accepted until filled.

Qualifications

Must have current or be eligible for a New Mexico PED Licensure in music; Special Education and background/experience in teaching students with visual impairments preferred. Will be required to become Braille proficient.
