Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M)

Job Description 

Braille Abilities, a growing TVI/O&M owned company, is looking for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) in Bakersfield, California. We are looking for a self-starter who is excellent with communication and documentation. Employees will be itinerant from their home offices and will serve students in the field daily.

O&M specialists are expected to:
  • Be self-starters
  • Work with students with a wide variety of needs, including sensory needs
  • Maximize student independence
  • Work as part of a team
  • Understand the IEP process
  • Maintain appropriate records and data
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Individualize instruction for the needs of each student
  • Teach students skills needed for safe and effective travel
  • Complete assessments
  • Focus on both short and long-term travel goals

Qualifications

California Credential of Clinical Rehabilitative Services: Orientation and Mobility. Will consider applicants with the ability to transfer O&M credentials from out of state. O&M Interns are welcome and will be hired on the intern salary schedule.

Salary

$65,000 - $100,000 (based on education and experience)
