Statement of Purpose
The AER International Services and Global Issues Division exists to raise awareness and facilitate collaboration between AER members in services, trends, and issues affecting people who are visually impaired in a global context.
Statement of Goals and Objectives
Our International Services and Global Issues interest group intends to make international connections through related professional organizations, international schools and service organizations, and people to people. We will continue to provide scholarships for international students entering our field and continue the global speaker series to support the work that people are doing around the world.
Goal 1:Â Engage with other vision professionals who are working to help individuals who are blind and visually impaired to achieve the highest level of independence and success.
Goal 2: Exchange strategies, techniques, and approaches to delivering services that are culturally appropriate.
Goal 3: Disseminate and receive information about the progress of international organizations.
Goal 4: Be a part of a group aimed at ensuring that all individuals who are blind and visually impaired have their needs raised to the highest levels.
Goal 5: Engage in collaborative professional development to promote excellence in the field worldwide.
