Job Description 

The Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (VABVI) seeks a Director of Children Services. VABVI is the only private, nonprofit, statewide agency, providing training, service and support to infants, children and adults of all ages throughout Vermont. The successful candidate will possess at minimum, a current state-issued License for a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment (TSVI) and at least five years’ experience as a provider, ideally possessing experience in supervision and leadership. They must demonstrate the ability to support staff, direct the Children Services Programs, promote awareness of services, build community partnerships, and assist in efforts to develop and maintain sustainable programs.

Qualifications

  • Proof of a master’s degree and five years of experience in the education field of blindness and visual impairment.
  • Proof of current or easily renewable state licensure as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment. (The candidate will be required to maintain such licensure while Director of Children’s Services).
  • The candidate will demonstrate ability in personnel management, organization, administration, and program implementation.
  • The candidate will demonstrate experience in effective public speaking.
  • The candidate will demonstrate experience in program development, documentation and evaluation.

Salary

$75,000 to $90,000 depending on experience
