Post-Pandemic Teaching Practices: Sensemaking and Decision-Making Among Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments
This study will help us learn how itinerant Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVIs) describe changes in instructional practice since the COVID-19 pandemic and how they make decisions about remote, in-person, and hybrid service delivery.
Who should participate?
We are looking for practicing itinerant Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVIs) in the United States who have worked continuously as TSVIs since at least 2015, provided remote instruction during COVID-related school closures, and currently serve K–12 students with blindness or low vision to participate in a research study.
What will I do if I participate?
You will be asked to complete a brief Participant Instructional Timeline about changes in your instructional practice, which takes about 15 minutes to complete, and participate in an individual audio-recorded interview lasting approximately 45–60 minutes, for a total of approximately 75 minutes.. Interview questions will focus on your professional experiences before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic and the factors that influence your instructional and service-delivery decisions. There is a possibility that some of the questions and procedures may make you feel uncomfortable
Can I quit if I become uncomfortable?
Yes, absolutely. Dr. Rona Pogrund and Texas Tech University’s Institutional Review Board have reviewed this research project and think you can participate comfortably. However, you can skip parts of the research you are not comfortable with and stop at any time for any reason. You will keep all the benefits of participating even if you stop. Participating is your choice. Your decision to participate or stop participating will not impact your relationship with Texas Tech University.
