Brain Based Orientation and Mobility Assessment (BBOMA) tool
The purpose of this second study is to have input on the tools’ questions from Orientation & Mobility (O&M) specialists once they have used the Brain Based Orientation and Mobility Assessment (BBOMA) tool with one of their students with a diagnosis of Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI).
About Study: The BBOMA was created to assess children with CVI to determine how higher visual functions impact their ability to navigate in their environment. The O&M specialist is asked to review the BBOMA and then once reviewed, use the tool to assess ONE student with CVI. Once the O&M specialist has completed the assessment, they are asked to complete a brief questionnaire on their experience using the tool. The O&M specialist MUST not share any information about the student.
To Participate: We are looking for O&M specialists who are currently working with students with CVI, have worked as an O&M specialist for at least 3 years, and are certified by either ACVREP or NBPCB.
Contact: Dr. Valery Kircher via email, [email protected], or by phone, 757-639-1229.
Completion of assessment and questionnaire: November 3, 2026
