The position of Certified Vision Rehabilitation Specialist (CVRT) is responsible for planning and implementing vision rehabilitation services and completing appropriate documentation of client progress to maximize the fulfillment of all deliverables. The CVRT will teach and coach individuals with low vision and blindness (LVB) in the use of compensatory skills that empower them to live safe, productive, and independent lives. These include skills of daily living, communication, access to technology, braille, pre-cane orientation and mobility, low vision, adjustment to vision loss, career education (if applicable), sensory efficiency, and self-determination.

Essential Job Requirements:

Service Provision:
  • Provide group and one-on-one community-based, center-based and virtual instruction to assigned clients and provide proper documentation of progress
  • Make recommendations for additional training, devices, or adaptations (in any skill area) needed to meet individual goals
  • Evaluate and document each client’s progress toward individual goals

Planning and Service Development:
  • Develop engaging curricula, and implement effective lesson plans and activities to align with LCF’s philosophy and achieve all contract deliverables for both one-on-one and group sessions focused on the client’s age and skill level.
  • Participate in decision-making to guide the direction of service development

Case Management and Reporting:
  • Completing timely and accurate interaction log documentation in the client database within three days, including the day of service
  • Review assessments and eye reports prior to beginning service with a new client
  • Ensure accurate and timely procurement requests
  • Maintain the confidentiality of program participants in accordance with State and Federal regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

Degree in Visual Disabilities, Secondary or Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Human/Social Services, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Two years of experience in vision rehabilitation preferred
  • Familiarity with blindness and/or broader disabilities issues is a plus

License/Certification:
  • Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT)
  • Additional helpful certifications: COMS, TSVI, CATIS, CLVT, DBS Access Technology Endorsement

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency with assistive technology and compensatory skills
  • Possess a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Possess effective organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to project a positive, compassionate image to clients, co-workers and the public

Physical Demands:
  • Independently navigate the work environment and the LCF service community
  • Moderate ability to move and lift items, usually ranging up to 25 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing upon occasion
  • Prolonged sitting at work station

Requirements:
  • Possess or be able to utilize reliable transportation
  • Must pass Level II background check

Salary

$55,000 - $60,000 Annually
