AER Resolutions

AER resolutions

Resolutions are one of the primary ways AER members shape the direction of the Association and the profession. Through the resolutions process, members bring forward ideas, concerns, and priorities that guide advocacy, professional practice, and organizational focus.

All members are encouraged to participate by submitting resolutions, reviewing proposals, engaging in discussion, and voting.

Resolution Guidelines

To ensure clarity and consistency, resolutions should include:

    • A clear statement of the issue or concern
    • Background information or rationale supporting the resolution
    • One or more “Resolved” clauses that define the action being proposed
    • Alignment with AER’s mission and scope

Resolutions may be edited by the Resolutions Committee for clarity, formatting, and consistency prior to publication for member review.

Who May Submit a Resolution

Resolutions may be submitted by:

    • An AER Chapter
    • A Professional Division
    • An Interest Group
    • An individual AER member with endorsement from at least five AER members

Resolutions submitted by an individual without the required endorsements will not be considered.

How to Submit a Resolution

Resolutions must be submitted in writing and should follow standard resolution format. Submissions should clearly state the issue, provide context, and outline the proposed action.

Use the downloadable resolution template to ensure consistency and completeness.

Please submit resolutions to: [email protected]

Members who need assistance developing or formatting a resolution are encouraged to contact the Resolutions Committee for support.

Amendments to Resolutions

Amendments may be submitted after proposed resolutions are posted for member review.

Amendments may be submitted by:

    • A Chapter
    • A Professional Division
    • An Interest Group
    • An individual member with endorsement from at least five AER members

All amendments must be submitted by July 6, 2026. No amendments will be accepted after this deadline.

Resolution Process

Conference Process

A resolutions discussion session will be held during the AER International Conference to allow members to review and discuss proposed resolutions and amendments prior to the General Business Meeting.

At the General Business Meeting on July 31, 2026, resolutions and amendments will be formally presented.

Voting will not take place on the floor. Electronic voting will open immediately following the Business Meeting and remain open through August 10, 2026. This approach ensures all members have the opportunity to review and participate in the voting process.
